CFMEU’s serial offending opens door to maximum penalty, High Court says

The High Court has ordered the building and construction union to pay a maximum fine of $63,000 for telling workers they could not be on a job site if they were not union members, saying its serial offending showed it had no “regard for the law”.

Hastie’s claim against Lendlease in $68M suit ‘untenable’, court hears

A bid by the liquidators of collapsed engineering company Hastie Group for Lendlease to pay back funds it withdrew under bank guarantees is “untenable” and “misconceived”, a court has heard in a $68 million case that also targets Multiplex, Grocon and John Holland.

Multiplex wants Hastie liquidators to pay up for betting on set-off limitation

Multiplex is calling for the liquidators of collapsed engineering services group Hastie to pay its costs, and pay now, for pursuing an action to recover millions of dollars in unpaid bills on the grounds that the construction company was not entitled to offset its debts with amounts owing.
