Judge orders discovery of legal advice in spat over $45B Ichthys LNG project

A judge has ordered contractor JKC Australia to hand over legal advice relating to a settlement deed it entered with Japanese oil company Inpex in 2021, as it seeks to hold Dutch paint company AkzoNobel NV responsible for its “significant” potential liability under the settlement.

Qantas ordered to pay Perth Airport $9.5M in terminal fee dispute

Qantas has been ordered to pay $9.5 million in unpaid fees after the Western Australia Supreme Court resolved a dispute over the “fair and reasonable” amount owed for terminal services provided for the airline’s domestic and international flights.

ATO wins appeal over $2.3M Auctus R&D tax refund mistake

The Australian Taxation Office has successfully appealed a Federal Court decision finding it could not recover an R&D tax offset refund of around $2.3 million paid to Auctus Resources despite the payment being made by mistake and the mining company admitting it was not entitled to the money.
